What is there to see and do in January, February and March?
Explore the new exhibits in the new Heritage Center. I Knew it was a Fine Country tells the stories of the Mahaffie family, early Olathe and Johnson County, the western trails and stagecoach travel. The exhibit includes a 12 minute film offering more of the site's history.
The Olathe Historical Society's latest exhibit focuses on elections and electioneering in Johnson County. Explore the historic grounds. Interpretive signs tell more of the story of the Mahaffie family, their farm, and the stagecoach stop and inn operations. You'll discover the original 1865 farmhouse, ice house, and barn with other, reconstructed buildings as well as our period livestock including horses, oxen, sheep, goats and chickens.
You will find other activities and programs taking place on special days throughout the winter. Kids can pick up one of our new Discovery guides. The family can help find the answers.
Here are a few photos of our guests enjoying their experience at Mahaffie this past year.
