Students discover how and why thousands of people passed the Mahaffie farm on their journeys to Santa Fe, Oregon, and California.

Activities
This program is typically divided into four educational activities, with students rotating between stations. Activities can include, but are not limited to:
- Panning for “gold”
- Exploring the contents of an emigrant’s covered wagon
- Learning about trade on the Santa Fe Trail
- Grinding coffee
- Enjoying a stagecoach ride
