Spring is a busy time on the Mahaffie Farm! There are many activities and events for all ages. 

  • Living History: 1860s Style kicks-off Saturday, April 6. We are open year-round. 1860s Living History activities begin weekends in April. Enjoy activities such as stagecoach rides, visiting the Mahaffie house, blacksmith and cookstove demonstrations and seasonal farming activities.   
  • Painting It Forward!
    • Pinot's Palette, Olathe, is bringing their popular painting parties to Mahaffie! All funds raised go to the Mahaffie Foundation. Thursday, March 28, 7 to 9 p.m. 
  • Backyard Chickens
    • Learn about raising your own flock of little ladies at this workshop Tuesday, April 16, 7 to 8:30 p.m. Registration required. 
  • Easter: 1860s Style!
    • Learn about the Oschter Haws, the original Easter bunny and try hot cross buns! Saturday, April 20, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. No registration required. 
  • Spring Home School Days
    • Home school families are invited to learn why so many people went west on the Oregon, California, and Santa Fe Trails! Thursday, April 25 or Friday, April 26. Sessions are offered each day: 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. or 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Registration required. 
  •  Spring on the Farm
    • Watch our farmers shear our sheep, help wash wool, and help in the garden! Take a stagecoach ride, see what is cooking on Mrs. Mahaffie's cookstove, and more! Saturday, April 27, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. No registration required. 
  • Spring Scout Day
    • Boy and Girl Scouts of all ages and levels can earn a special Mahaffie patch! Help with spring chores, visit the Mahaffie House, and take a stagecoach ride! Saturday, April 27, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. or 1 to 3 p.m. Registration required.
